Personal Skills Audit for entry to the Accounting Profession – Written Job There has been an important shift in accounting career from simply providing numerical financial information to guidance on a a comprehensive portfolio of business matters - coming from profitability of developing a fresh line of products to E-commerce and investigating deceitful activities. There is also a tendency to acknowledge the presence of hard and soft abilities. The stand (Appendix I) shows the spread of soft ( non-technical ) skills and values in several accounting specializations. Based on this kind of table the conclusion would be that any specialty area requires a great range of non-technical skills. Different areas require distinct levels of these skills. My personal career goal is to get work at a chartered accounting firm. To compete with others the firm must stand above similar available. Profitability from the firm is determined by network of clients, referrals from business partners, people/HR skills to develop a right crew, management expertise to lead and motivate people, marketing skills, instructor skills to supervise second, learning skills to learn by mentors and climb the corporate ladder, conditional skills to interpret the information. From the initial interview towards the job give and/or promotion the most important can be communication skills. Communication means passing upon or posting the information. It can be in a face-to-face discussion, by simply correspondence, over telephone, simply by radio, TV etc . Secrets requirements to communicate efficiently are: •To be an efficient speaker (logical, clear pronounced speech well prepared for specific audience regardless if it is only one person) •To understand human's phycology (e. g. what motivates and interests audience) •To be familiar with needs and background of another get together (e. g. not to work with accounting jargon for non-accountants) •To be able to manage conflicts
